Course: Ground Penetrating Radar Theory and Applications (GPR)
Dates: 05 – 23 October 2026 (3 weeks, 20 hours/week)
Teachers: MASSA Andrea, ROCCA Paolo, TOSI Luca
ECTS: 6
Website: https://www.eledia.org/eledia-unitn/course/2026-2027.LM.GPR.UniTN.TRENTO.IT/
The Master Course is taught in 🇬🇧️ ENGLISH and is offered
- On-site
- On-line (synchronous and asynchronous)
Video recordings, hand-outs, etc. of the lectures will be available off-line!
In this course, you’ll explore:
- The fundamentals of GPR technology and its role among non-destructive diagnostic methods
- The electromagnetic principles governing wave propagation and subsurface reflection
- GPR system components, instrumentation, and data acquisition techniques
- Inversion approaches used to reconstruct subsurface features from radar data
- Visualization and interpretation methods for accurate subsurface characterization
- Hands-on MATLAB exercises applied to real case studies in civil engineering
Whether you’re interested in infrastructure monitoring, subsurface imaging, or non-destructive diagnostics — this course gives you the methodological tools to interpret what radar sees beneath the surface.
Teaching Activities:
- Theoretical Lessons
- e-Xam Self Assessment (each teaching class or periodically)
- MATLAB Hands-On
- e-Xam Final Assessment
Fees:
UniTN Students: FREE
EXTERNAL Students:
- 216€ : First course
