Last year of the Project “SMARTOUR – Intelligent TOURist platform” is starting!

The ELEDIA Research Center is pleased to announce that the last year of the Project SMARTOUR is starting!

#SMARTOUR – Piattaforma intelligente per il turismo” is a national project funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University, and Research (Ministero Istruzione, Universita’ e Ricerca) within the Program “Smart Cities and Communities and Social Innovation”. The SMARTOUR Project has been ranked first in the Cultural Heritage track and has received a total funding of 12.5 MEuro, of which more than 400 KEuro for the Università di Trento.

The SMARTOUR project aims at improving the visiting experiences of art and cultural cities through new technologies and innovative services capable of enhancing and preserving the historical and touristic areas of each city. In this framework, the #ELEDIA@UniTN research team has designed an #innovative#localization#system based on the #opportunistic exploitation of the existing #WiFi networks and accessible through a standard #APP. The (anonymous) tracking of people in the museum enables smart and advanced services for both the #visitors and the #management, that are being implemented in SMARTOUR.

The system will be experimentally validated in the next months at The Valentino Castle (Castello del Valentino, Turin, Italy) and the Textile Museum (Museo del Tessuto, Prato, Italy).

Stay tuned!
