🚦 Project MARGINE: Monitoring and Alert System for Wildlife Road Crossings to Prevent Collisions 🦌🚗
#MARGINE is a research project developed by ELEDIA Research Center in collaboration with the Provincia Autonoma di Trento (Road Management Service).
MARGINE takes a #proactive #approach to enhance #safety for both #drivers and #animals by monitoring and alerting #wildlife #road #crossings. The system utilizes Wireless Sensor Networks (#WSN) to detect and signal real-time wildlife #presence near #roadsides, aiming to prevent #collisions with vehicles.
Equipped with specific sensors and #RADAR technology, small and cost-effective devices capture comprehensive information about animal movement in the vicinity (including type, speed, and direction).
By addressing the issue of driver habituation to static road signs, MARGINE introduces #dynamic road #signs that activate only when relevant, effectively capturing attention and reducing the risk of accidents.
