The SIRENA Project, coordinated by ELT Group S.p.A., has been selected as the winner of the 2025-R-09 call for proposals – “Development of a Synthetic Aperture Sonar”, issued by the National Underwater Dimension Hub (PNS – https://www.pnsitalia.com/).
The project has a two-year duration and a total budget of 10 million euros. In addition to the aforementioned large enterprise, the consortium includes six SMEs and three research institutions.
Among them is the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT – http://cnit.it/), which will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing phases of the first fully Italian-built synthetic aperture sonar system.
Within CNIT, all activities will be carried out by the ELEDIA@UniGe and ELEDIA@UniTN nodes of the ELEDIA Research Center Network (www.eledia.org), under the coordination of Prof. Andrea TRUCCO, Director of the Genoa node.
