ELEDIA Selected as Prime Contractor of the SKYBEAMS Project

The ELEDIA Research Center is pleased to announce its role as Prime Contractor of the SKYBEAMS project, funded by the European Space Agency (ESA).

The SKYBEAMS project aims to develop a reduced-complexity, sparse Ka-band electronically scanned antenna breadboard for next-generation SatCom ground terminals, enabling seamless connectivity with satellites across multiple orbits.
To achieve this goal, innovative and cost-effective architectures based on sparse and irregular arrays, modular beamforming solutions, advanced electromagnetic design, and additive manufacturing will be explored. The proposed approach targets reduced complexity, cost, weight, and power consumption while ensuring high performance over wide scanning ranges.

The SKYBEAMS project is carried out through a partnership between the ELEDIA Research Center, SWISSto12, a leading European company specializing in advanced RF technologies for space applications, and INSA Rennes, a renowned research institution with extensive expertise in microwave engineering and applied electromagnetics.
The project will cover the full development path, from architectural design and optimization to prototype manufacturing and experimental validation, paving the way for more affordable, modular, and scalable solutions for future SatCom ground terminals.

We look forward to working with our partners and ESA to advance innovative antenna technologies for the next generation of satellite communications
