Project VERT-GO Officially Accepted for Funding by the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research

The ELEDIA Research Center is pleased to announce that the project VERT-GO – “Ferme Verticale Éco-Résiliente pour une Gestion Optimisée et Durable” has been officially accepted for funding by the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research within the framework of the PEJC – Programme d’Encouragement des Jeunes Chercheurs.

The VERT-GO project aims to develop an intelligent, eco-resilient vertical farming system that integrates Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize water and nutrient management. By enabling the local production of fresh food in urban environments, the project directly contributes to food security while reducing dependence on traditional supply chains.

Leveraging hydroponic cultivation systems, VERT-GO significantly decreases water consumption compared to conventional agriculture, addressing critical challenges related to water scarcity. In addition, the project emphasizes sustainability through the use of renewable energy sources and eco-friendly materials, ensuring an environmentally responsible production model.

The project is coordinated by Dr. AHMADI Hanen (ELEDIA@InnovCOM – Sup’COM) and involves a strong multidisciplinary partnership with Sup’COM, Innov’COM, INRAT, bringing together expertise in telecommunications, smart systems, artificial intelligence, and agronomic research.

This initiative represents an important step toward sustainable, technology-driven agriculture and highlights the role of young researchers in addressing global challenges related to food, water, and energy security.
