Title: Inverse Problems and Electromagnetic Diagnostics for Environment (IPEDE)
Date: 17 – 28 November 2025 (2 weeks, 30 hours/week)
Teachers: MASSA Andrea, OLIVERI Giacomo
Website: https://www.eledia.org/eledia-unitn/course/ipede
Leakage detection from EM measurements poses a complex inverse problem — ill-posed, non-linear, and data-limited.
This course equips you with the theoretical and computational tools to reconstruct hidden anomalies from surface-level electromagnetic data, enabling precise diagnostics in critical infrastructures.
The Master Course is taught in 🇬🇧️ ENGLISH and is offered
- On-site
- On-line (synchronous and asynchronous)
Video recordings, hand-outs, etc. of the lectures will be available off-line!
What you will learn:
- Understand the fundamentals of inverse problems in electromagnetic (EM) diagnostics
- The importance of data collections and information adding for dealing with non-linearity and ill-posedness
- Master strategies for effective information acquisition
- Apply inverse problem techniques to real-world environmental monitoring
Teaching Activities:
- Theoretical Lessons
- e-Xam Self Assessment (each teaching class or periodically)
- MATLAB Hands-On
- e-Xam Final Assessment
Fees:
UniTN Students: FREE
EXTERNAL Students:
- 216€ : First course
- 180€ : Every course from the second one
The fees include the course teaching, slides/material, and video recordings.
