Emergency Detection using Social Media

Early detection about emergency events, e.g., The fires, storms, traffic jams is of great importance to protect the security of humans. EYESHADE exploits real-time social media communication for the identification and the localization of threats.

DESIGNED FOR SCALABLE HEADS

EYESHADE has been designed for so called "Small emergency events" (or "Sub-Events" in research). Performance is optimized for monitoring a relatively small scenario such as a country or a wide region.

EYESHADE is pre-configured and optimized for detecting anomalous events and security threats, but the platform itself is neutral and might be applied to different social-mining applications such as marketing response analysis, tourist engagement.

EYESHADE LEADING FEATURES

EYESHADE is a ready-to-use support tool for civil defense organization and social-research related organizations.

Medium and Small scale Emergencies

EYESHADE focuses on relatively small-scale emergencies such as sub-urban fires, landslides, traffic jams, car accidents.

Plug and Play,
Autonomous System

EYESHADE aims to be used by any kind of user, from emergency operators of situation room managers. It provides human-friendly interfaces and multi-channel notification.

User-Defined Search

EYESHADE comes with built-in training models and pre-configured analysis templates. Moreover end-user might issue custom search and complex queries for specific scenarios and topics.

Tech Support

EYESHADE architects and data-mining experts are also committed for supporting end-user custom requirements in terms of system features extension and training models synthesis and maintenance.

EYESHADE USAGE

EYESHADE is typically used with the "Software as a Service" (SaaS) paradigm: EYESHADE team can take accounts of all technical and maintenance details, while the customers have remote access to their information. This applies to public Cloud, private Clouds and server clusters.

EYESHADE platform supports four native interfaces for exposing data and managing system components and analyzes flows.

Web

Authorized users can monitor detected events in real-time and browse the history through the responsive HTML5 interface. Users might also start specific queries against classified data or online data-sources.

Desktop

EYESHADE Studio is a multi-platform desktop application that embeds all features of the platform. It offers specific tools for offline analysis, reproducing results, crating benchmarks, and tuning the configurations.

Command-line.

System components, databases and analyzes flow are configured through human friendly properties files. Although command line mode is designed for administration and maintenance.

REST Services

Detected threats and related resources (crawled during analysis) are accessible in most common formats such as XML, JSON and derivatives (RSS, GeoRSS, GeoJSON).

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

It works on any physical or virtual computer platform including the Cloud. The execution might be distributed across multiple processes and networked computers by using the same database backend.

EVENTS NOTIFICATION

Detected emergency events are always accessible on demand through embedded user interfaces (Web, RSS Feed, REST services).

When a new threat has been detected, or updated with a given difference with respect to previous version, it is notified to third-party systems (and users) by means of the following asynchronous adapters:

Mailing Lists

EYESHADE can notify detected threats with human-friendly email to multiple recipients according to pre-configured rules based on event information such as type, priority, location.

Social Networks

EYESHADE has also the ability to publish data on social networks. When events are detected or updated it can send private messages to predefined users.

Common Alerting Protocol

The Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) is de-facto standard for consistently disseminated simultaneously warnings and emergencies between alerting technologies. EYESHADE supports most used versions: 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.

Remote Message Bus

Many enterprise and complex software systems are based on messaging busses for real-time asynchronous communication. EYESHADE supports the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP).
