Facilities

The ELEDIA@AUTH Research group is located at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The Research group is equipped with various RF and microwave measurement facilities, high performance computation facilities and full wave electromagnetic analysis software, to fully support research, design, analysis, test, and experimental development efforts related to antenna design in emerging technologies, optimization techniques in next generation networks, and IoT technologies for agriculture applications. Moreover, the ELEDIA@AUTH Research group is equipped with Software Defined Radio devices.

Computer Facilities

The ELEDIA@AUTH Research group is equipped with a couple of scientific computational servers and many workstations.

 

Electromagnetic CAD Software

The available computational software packages in the Research group include various commercial electromagnetic simulators and antenna CAD tools, as well as numerical and optimization codes for evolutionary algorithms developed in-house at the ELEDIA@AUTH. In particular, the electromagnetic simulation commercial packages include:

  • High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) for RF and Wireless Design of high-frequency, high-speed electronics found in communications systems, radar systems, antennas and antenna arrays, internet-of-things (IoT) products and other high-speed RF and digital devices;
  • FEKO for computational electromagnetics used widely in telecommunications;

Various optimization in-house codes for evolutionary algorithms, e.g., Differential Evolution (DE), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Biogeography-Based Optimization (BBO), and Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA), are also developed at ELEDIA@AUTH to solve a wide range of modern electromagnetic and communication system problems.
The ELEDIA@AUTH uses a variety of programming languages including C/C++, Java, Matlab and Python.
